For the Lord’s Day 5.28.17

Dear Covenant Church Family,

Many of us have very busy summers out ahead of us.  I know of celebrations, travel, job changes, moving from one house to another, etc…  In the midst of it all let us keep first things first!!  We are God’s people.  We are not our own, we were bought with a price!!  We are to glorify God in all things.  So, whether we eat, drink, run, cry, fall, rejoice, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.

“We have been forewarned that an enemy relentlessly threatens us, an enemy who is the very embodiment of rash boldness, of military prowess, of crafty wiles, of untiring zeal and haste, of every conceivable weapon and of skill in the science of warfare.  We must, then, bend our every effort to this goal: that we should not let ourselves be overwhelmed by carelessness or faintheartedness, but on the contrary, with courage rekindled stand our ground in combat.”

For the Lord’s Day 4.9.17

Dear Covenant Church Family,

Jesus said to His followers:  “You are the salt of the earth.”

“Salt does no good at all if it has lost its saltiness. Only when it is salty is it effective. So, if we are those in whom the Spirit of God has worked to call us to faith in Jesus Christ, we must really be Christ’s people. It must be evident that by his grace we are not what we were previously. Our values must not be the world’s values. Our commitments must not be secular commitments. Our theology must not be a decimated theology. Rather, there must be a new element in us and, because of us, in the world.”

Dear Covenant Church Family,

There will always be areas of our lives where we continue to struggle with sin.  But, God’s grace is real and the gracious work of the Holy Spirit in our lives does bring about change.  Our Father in heaven does not leave us as we are but He promises to conform (change) us more into the image of His Son.  Sometimes the change is slower and sometimes faster.  Come and hear more about it this Sunday at Covenant!!
