The Lord our God is upon His heavenly throne (Psalm 93:2).  He knows us completely (Psalm 139:1-4).  He sees us constantly (Psalm 33:13-15).  He understands us in every way (Psalm 103:13-14).  He hears our prayers (Matthew 7:7-11) and is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20).  Believing these truths we can rejoice always, pray without ceasing, and give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for us (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18).

Dear Covenant Church Family,

1)  Don’t forget the time change for this weekend.  You will get an extra hour of sleep on Sunday morning.  With that in mind, let me take this opportunity to encourage all of you non-Sunday School folks to give an effort to be here this week.  There are some great opportunities for you and your house to learn more from the Word of God with the rest of your church family.

2)  We will celebrate the sacrament of the Lord’s Supper together this week as we normally do each first Lord’s Day of every month.

3)  If you are available on Saturday please stop by the Covenant Church tent down on Jackson Street at Market Days.

4)  Let us walk in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ.  Let us love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength.  Let us love our neighbor as ourselves.

Dear Covenant Church Family,

James 1:17  “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights…”

“All that exists is God’s; whatever anyone possesses he has received from God…  If we receive something, we must receive it as out of the hand of God as being our Father.  We must be satisfied with that which the Father gives – be it much or little, it will be enough.  Therefore we ought not to waste it, but with a joyful heart make use of it.”

For the Lord’s Day 10.2.16

Dear Covenant Church Family,

I am continually amazed and humbled by God and His grace.  This God who first loved us by sending His only Son to come and give His life as a sacrifice for our sins.  I am a Sinner saved by grace.  How then could we not give our lives up for Him who first gave his up for us?  Jesus Himself said to his disciples and he says to us again today, “if anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.  For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and the gospel’s will save it.” (Mark 8:34-35)

For the Lord’s Day 9.25.16

Dear Covenant Church Family,

We keep praying as Jesus taught us, “Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”  Even then, we are sometimes not completely sure what to do next.  So keep praying… and keep waiting as long as you can.  But, when you have to make that move… make the best decision you can according to God’s Word and keep trusting that He will straighten your paths.  Proverbs 3:5-6 says, “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.  In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.”
