God to You and to Your Descendants (Genesis 17:1-19)

1. Why baptize an infant? They are not able to do anything!

    A. A picture of salvation (‘according to promise’ Romans 4:16)
    B. The truth of the Gospel is at stake (‘righteousness apart from works’, Rom. 4:6)

2. The whole Bible is a testimony of man’s desperate dependency on God’s provision

    A. The life of Abraham
    B. God’s covenant is established not only with Abraham but also with his descendants

3. The children of Abraham are blessed and will be a blessing

    A. You did not choose Me but I chose you
    B. In Abraham all the nations of the earth with be blessed.

The Narrow Gate

Matthew 7:13-14, “Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.” With this statement Jesus was saying that He is the way that leads to life.  He is the narrow gate through which you must enter.  So the question is: Do you believe Him? And will you believe Him again today? Will you come to Him as a child believing what He says?  For he says, to such belongs the kingdom of heaven. There is so much in our lives today that keeps us from doing that very thing… so much that keeps us from coming to him as a child believing these simple truths of the gospel.  Many are apathetic or deceived.  They don’t understand the weight of what is at stake.  Many have grown fat and happy in this world with the pleasures of this life… Continue reading
