For the Lord’s Day 11.1.15

Dear Covenant Church Family,

May the hope that you have in Jesus Christ encourage you today.  I know that each day is filled with its blessings as well as its difficulties.  So, don’t forget to give thanks unto the Lord in all your circumstances (1 Thess 5:18).  And don’t forget that God’s plan for you is to make you into the image of His Son (Romans 8:29) and He knows the best way to accomplish that for you.  So, keep your eyes on the prize (Philippians 3:14) and look forward to that day when you will receive the crown of life (James 1:12).  And may God be glorified through it all for He alone is worthy!

For the Lord’s Day 10.18.15

Dear Covenant Church Family,

Psalm 118:24  “This is the day that the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.”

May we be reminded of God’s love for us again today.  He has saved us and called us His people.  We have believed in Jesus Christ His Son and by faith in Him we are justified.  In other words, we have been declared righteous and now enjoy peace with our Holy Father in heaven.  May these truths cause us to rejoice and be glad today.

For the Lord’s Day 10.4.15

Dear Covenant Church Family,

We will be celebrating the sacrament of the Lord’s Supper this week.  Let me remind you that the Lord has commanded us to examine our hearts beforehand.  With that in mind, use the following question from the Heidelberg Catechism to prepare yourself for worship and for approaching the Lord’s Table for communion.

Question:  Who are to come to the table of the Lord?

Answer:  Those who are truly displeased with themselves because of their sins and yet trust that these are forgiven them and that their remaining weakness is covered by the suffering and death of Christ, and who also desire more and more to strengthen their faith and amend their life.  But hypocrites and those who do not repent eat and drink judgment upon themselves. (see 1 Corinthians 10:19-22; 11:26-32)
