Dear Covenant Church Family,

I do hope and pray that you were able to give thanks to God yesterday.  For some, maybe it wasn’t that hard to do because life is moving along fairly well and God has given you a period of joy and prosperity.  For others, it may have been a bit more difficult because of the current trials and tribulations of life.  But, let us all be careful not establish our sole reason for thanksgiving upon the circumstances of this life.  We must never forget that this life is but a vapor.  We are here today and gone tomorrow regardless of our circumstances.  Hebrews 9:27 reminds us that it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment.  Let us not be deceived by the things of this world.  Let us look forward to the judgment to come.  Let us be THANKFUL: For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.  Let us be thankful that we have a Savior who lived and died and rose again so that we might have hope for eternity.

For the Lord’s Day 11.22.15

Dear Covenant Church Family,

“When we begin to orient our marriages around biblical truth, we see something amazing.  Marriage was not just invented by God, it belongs to God.  He has a unique claim over its design, purpose, and goals.  It actually exists for him more than it exists for you and me and our spouses.  That’s right.  Marriage is not first about me or my spouse.  Obviously, the man and woman are essential, but they are also secondary.  God is the most important person in a marriage.  Marriage is for our good, but it is first for God’s glory.”

For the Lord’s Day 11.15.15

Dear Covenant Church Family,

Matthew 11:28-30  “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

This is an invitation for all of us who understand the depth of our sins and know that we need a Savior.  It’s an invitation for all of us who are burdened by the guilt of sin before a holy God and who know that we need to be forgiven.  And I will add that it is an invitation for all of us who are burdened by the overall effects of sin in this world and who long for that heavenly place beyond Jordan’s Stormy banks… and we know that the only way to get there is to be found in Jesus.  The One who graciously invites us to come and find our rest in Him.

For the Lord’s Day 11.8.15

Dear Covenant Church Family,

In Genesis 1 we saw the glory and the power of our God as He created all things out of nothing and declared that everything was very good.  In Genesis 2 God gives us a more specific look at the creation of the man and the place where He put the man to dwell.  The place was a garden in Eden.  It was a perfect place for the man.  God provided over and above all that the man needed.  Of course, we know the story of the two trees that were in that garden and how one of those trees was the downfall of humanity.  Thus, our great need for the Promised One who came to live and die and rise again that we might be redeemed and have life eternal.  His name is Jesus Christ.  Come and let us join together to worship Him this Lord’s Day!

1 Peter 2:24  He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.
